Mohawk Racetrack topped all North American tracks for highest average purse in 2011, according to the online journal Harness Racing Update.
USTA statistics in the article show Mohawk’s average purse was $34,050. Woodbine came in third with an average purse of $26,280. The only other Canadian track to make the list was Georgian Downs which finished in 13th position with an average purse of $10,326.
As for total purses shelled out, Yonkers led all North American harness operations with $67,558,503. Woodbine Racetrack ranked third with $38,290,356.
